Roman Explorers Programs
ES STUDENTS
GET A TASTE OF LATIN & THE ANCIENT ROMAN
WORLD
Roman Explorers is a half-day outreach program
in which elementary school students delve into
the Latin language, Roman culture, ancient
mythology, and English word study based on Latin
roots. The program helps to strengthen academic
knowledge and better prepare students to meet
standards and to succeed on assessments.
Experienced and award-winning faculty who have
spearheaded the drive to incorporate Classics in
the elementary grades serve as the instructors,
working with a tried-and-true curriculum. Thanks
to the support of Ascanius and Excellence
Through Classics, we are able to offer several
Roman Explorers programs free of charge to
schools in rural and urban areas, as well as to
schools in select other areas of the country.

HS &
COLLEGE STUDENTS BRING CREATIVE LESSONS
& PROGRAMS TO AREA ES STUDENTS
Offered to high school and college students, this
scholarship aims to spur growth of Latin and the
Classics at the elementary school level, and to
help create and strengthen foreign language
partnerships between elementary and secondary
schools. The Classical Promise Scholarships
allow enterprising students to engineer programs
using both the organizational and financial
support of Ascanius. Scholarship recipients
receive a mentor from Ascanius, access to
curriculum created by Ascanius, and write a
summary of their program for inclusion in the
Ascanius newsletter. Students may apply for
scholarship funds at any time, but preference
will be given to early applicants. Scholarship
funds are available in amounts ranging from $50
to $200. These funds must be used in the
purchase of materials and other items related to
the program.
