Meet the Staff

Mr. Tim Lesinski, Instructor

Tim Lesinski is a Latin teacher at the F.A. Day Middle School in Newton, MA. He is currently working towards receiving his M.A.T. in Latin & Classical Humanities at Boston College; last spring, he student taught at Waltham High School. Prior to this, he graduated from Tufts University in 2012 with a degree in Greek & Latin. He has studied Latin for 12 years. He brings with him a passion for teaching Latin using innovative and engaging methods. In addition to his Latin experience, he worked as a camp counselor with the 7-12 age group in Woods Hole, MA for three summers.

Mr. Matthew D. Webb, Supervisor

Mr. Matthew Webb is a Latin instructor for The Public Schools of Brookline, Massachusetts. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Classical Languages and Literatures from the University of Maryland, and a Master's degree in Teaching Latin and Classical Humanities from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. This fall, he will begin working towards a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Educational Administration at the University of Massachusetts Boston. He has also studied at The American University of Rome.

Mr. Webb has dedicated his career to modernizing Latin programs, to bringing Latin to underserved populations, to crafting supportive learning environments, and to working to develop and mentor new teachers. He has taught for almost fifteen years on the elementary through collegiate levels in the public and private schools of the Mid-Atlantic and New England.

Mr. Webb's professional involvements include memberships in various local, regional, and national organizations including the American Classical League and the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. He has also served as Chair of the Excellence Through Classics for Elementary and Middle School Levels Committee, Member of the Exploratory Latin Exam Committee, Member of the National Latin Exam Writing Committee, and Founder/Emeritus Member of the Medusa Mythology Exam Committee.

As Executive Director of Ascanius, Mr. Webb coordinates the day-to-day operations of the organization and helps to shape its goals and vision. In his role as Director of Teacher Programs, Mr. Webb develops, coordinates, and leads workshops for teachers, and helps to create a variety of publications for both teachers and students.
