Explore the games that Ancient Roman children used to play! Learn how to play a Roman board game called Rota with a friend. You'll have a chance to make your own version of Roman dice and try out some games with them!
What do I need for this video
journal
small ball
quick-drying clay or Play-Doh
toothpick
two sets of 3 game pieces
(cereal, coins, monopoly pieces)construction paper or newspaper
Game Rules

Hold the tālī in your hand.
Throw the tālī in the air.
Turn over your hand.
Catch the tālī on the back of your hand.

Throw a small ball into the air.
Pick up a knucklebone.
Catch the ball.

Toss all your tālī into the air.
Add up the numbers on the tops of the tālī.
See how high you can get your score!

Guess: will you get an odd or even number?
Toss all your tālī into the air.
Add up the numbers on the tops of the tālī.
See if you were right!

Each player has 3 game pieces.
Stage 1: Take turns placing your pieces on the board.
Stage 2: Take turns moving your pieces around the board. (You cannot jump over pieces.)
Goal: Get all your three pieces in a row.
