Using Novellas as Source Texts for Latin Compositions
Ascanius: The Youth Classics Institute hosted a Pre-Institute workshop at the ACL Institute on Sunday, June 29, and Monday, June 30, focused on helping students write quality Latin stories.
In this interactive workshop, participants explored how novellas can be used as source texts for creating original short stories in Latin. Teachers practiced adapting reading-based classroom activities into writing activities that support novella studies, encourage student creativity, and help students overcome second-language writer’s block.
The workshop also highlighted ways these activities could prepare students to submit their own stories to the ETC SCRIBO contest.
77th Annual ACL Institute
LUDAMUS: Celeriter!
ACL Institute 2024 in Tucson when Ascanius presented LUDAMUS: Celeriter! highlighting the theme of our Rudolph Masciantonio "Classics for All" grant. Nearly 30 teachers moved from station to station playing different games and activities at each station. With the help of Julie Zammit, Ascanius is able to share a database of all the games and activities that were shared during this workshop and many more!
